  So, I did a thing ... Shunned VIDcast #1 - Secrets - Jehovah's Witnesses and Cult Life

  alright, many of you know me from the this jw life and shunned podcasts along with my inane ramblings on here.

  i just made my first video and put myself out there on youtube along with my podcast episodes that are on there now.

  i put my podcast audio up on there as videos and new people are subscribing and finding it through that.

  firstly, i want to be crystal clear how grateful i am for jwn.

  it's been my place of support for over seventeen years and it's the first online space i direct anyone to if they are taking steps out of the cult.

  i am not bashing jwn - i love this place and appreciate the hard work and expense simon puts in to keep it going.

  i read and replied to a post today about weather there were any benefits in been a jw.

  as much as i now dislike the religion, i had to agree that there was an up side, due to their strong stance on alcohol, gambling, smoking, and sexual practice.

  we would all agree that these can be terrible vices that can get out of control.. i was at one point a true believer, who believed in these rules, and to a point have benefited from abstaining from these practices.

  I think anyone who leaves the this so called religion fares quite well no matter what the age----> IF and ONLY IF they are fully awake to the facts and not torn between still thinking it could be true. That, to me, is where most young or old seem to run into major issues...

  thank you to those that have passed on "leaked" videos.

  one point that i have not seen discussed is "why" apostates are getting these videos.. are videos getting out because of a lack of internal controls, or are there more than a few disloyal insiders that are more than happy to pass on inside information.

  or, is there a strategic intent of releasing leaked videos?.

  Thanks Fay Dehr!! The reassurance is much appreciated and so is the work you are doing!

  In regards to the Russian videos shown on Friday afternoon Convention Day... I watched the scenes closely and they seem to be filmed by one of the police/storm trooper type guys and not some Witness... so if this is indeed real, then its publicly available for all to see somewhere--- and if not-- they may have staged a reenactment?? Who knows??

  Boredposter makes a good point. There's a big difference between HACKED and LEAKED. I would love to know which is which... since that would explain a lot.

  ...am sure that their auditing department (IT Budget) is spending a ton of money on DLP technology (data loss prevention) and trying hard to audit everything that is accessed and copied elsewhere. I bet they run Splunk, Checkpoint DLP agents, and have endpoint encryption on their servers, desktops, and laptops...up the wazoo - and go through detailed audit logs on their internal infrastructure to see who accessed what, and when.

  I've often pondered the same questions... but then, honestly, after the watching the training video for new bethelites... (AKA: PillowGate) I can't see how the GB would ever INTEND for the public to see and review it... other videos that have been leaked such as the state of their financial affairs and other internal processes have no strategic value (In other words what would be the purpose to expose themselves in such a way?) it doesn't make sense... so, to me, I conclude that they have a MESS going on internally and they know it and they are trying to plug it up... so, that means people are AWAKE on the inside. Someone higher up is for sure. Anyone else agree, or am I missing something?
